wow, how revolutionary is that? usually can't even get one yellow face (sorry to be so facetious) in and now a whole cast! they look stunning in these intriguing dresses!

maybe it's just me, but strangely the last person doesn't seem like Du Juan

this has been such a great year so far for asian models! lets hope this trend continues and they start putting asians in magazines/shows WITHOUT being a "token" minority

... amazing ... yay yay to tao !!! ... she looks fab!

i agree about du juan, it;s cos her hair's so long and straight she looks more edgy than sweet and feminine.

The hats look like something the villains would wear on a Power Rangers-type show.

i don't know how i feel about this. while i think it's great that asian models are continuing to do well and being taken more seriously, this all-asian givenchy show also seems kind of gimmicky with a bit of pandering to certain markets.

and wow, long time no see for hye.

^ i agree w/ thwany
i does seem like an effort to appeal to the asian market
plus, as much as i love that asian models are making big splashes, i am worried that these statements are more of a one time thing...

absolutely stunning. what a landmark in the history of modern fashion show casting.

of course they're trying to appeal to the asian markets, namely china. what's wrong with that? fashion is a BUSINESS and china has the fastest growing market for luxury goods. on top of that, tisci was inspired for this collection by japanese butoh dancer kazuo ohno, so it's fitting that he would cast an all asian cast. you guys who think it's too gimmicky need to get over yourselves. it's the world of fashion.

have to agree with Thwany....it seems kinda offensive, all asian models for an all asian theme....it's definitely pandering

and there were people complaining(in certain websites) about the lack of other races of model..like seriously..this is what models of color and people of color feel when they constantly only see white faces come down the runway and on the pages of magazines.
it's only a few times(if we're lucky) that people of color get to see models that represent us. let us enjoy this moment instead of bickering and trying to dissect the reason behind the casting cuz before we know it, it'll be back to the same old routine. 99% white models and only a percent reserved for the token black or asian model.

So it's gimmicky, but how many time have we've seen all caucasian models in group shots. A lot to be honest, because before it was a very north american and european market, with Japan being the exception. Right now, it's East Asia that's the hot spot market. Why not cater to this. At some point, maybe there will be an all South Asian group shot catering to South Asia. Take it for what it is, at least it an alternative to the lack of visible minority or the token minority in a group photo.
